Story Starter A4

“This was a grand idea, Anissa! Hiking this trail was just what I needed.” Samantha took Anissa’s hand and squeezed it. “Thanks for everything.” Anissa smiled. “That’s what friends are for.”So they went on merrily, until there came a steep cliff. Both of them were experienced grapplers, so they thought there was no danger. Samantha graciously let Anissa go first, so she geared up. When Anissa was through she would send the harness back up to her, since they could only afford to rent one gear set.Anissa gracefully grappled only five to six feet down, when unexpectedly, she heard a snap, and suddenly found herself dangling one hundred feet from the ground below. “Samantha! Help! My harness broke!” Her head emerged for only a half second before disappearing again. In what seemed like forever, Samantha was hanging beside her, wearing a make shift rope harness. “Grab onto me, and act like you are coming to sit in my lap.” She said. Anissa did like she asked, though she trembled. Soon she was sitting in Samantha’s lap. “Quickly, use my shoulders as a boost to get up.” So she climbed up carefully, and hoisted herself up. As soon as she was securely on the cliff’s edge she heard Samantha scream. Anissa turned to see an empty rope, and a form of a girl disappearing into the abyss below.

Suggestions:

-Samantha dies and it’s a very short story

-Anissa believe she’s dead, but the days later discover that she lived, and braved the wilderness with wounds to survive

-When Samantha falls, she loses her memory, and is taken in by a family passing by, but no one knew who she is because the girls had been on vacation.

-Samantha lands on a short rocky ledge that is falling, and Anissa has to save her.

-The rope breaks while Anissa is on it, so she also falls, and any of the above can be used with both of them (Though it might be odd for both of them to lose their memory)

-Samantha falls, and the impact makes her blind temporarily or permanently.
